Big Sexy Red

This was a fun look to do, very simple as well.

1. Always prime your eyelids please, it makes a big difference. (Too Faced Shadow Insurance)

2. I used a creamy white base to grab on to the loose shadows. (Nyx jumbo pencil in Milk)

3. I applied a light pink in the inner third of the lid. Blend it well, the pink is just there to help the red blend better and make it less harsh looking when we go ahead and apply the rest of the shadows. (Detrivore Cosmetics 'Death Valley')

Here it gets a little trickier but bear with the mmkay.

4. Take a brown color and apply a line following the natural curve of your eye. In other words, cut your crease. But were not doing the severe line here, blend it out, make sure it fades nicely. (I used Coconut Grove by NARS)

5. Use your favorite matte red and with a shader brush apply the red to your mobile lid and blend it towards the brown color. Don't stop blending until you're happy with the fade of the colors. (I used Heartless Queen by Evil Shades)

6. Next, apply a highlight. Again, I am using a white instead of a color that matches my skin more closely because I feel more extravegant with a white lol. (MAC Guesso)

7. Apply a light silver to the inner corner of your lids to make the makeup pop. (Lime Crime's Mirror Mirror)

8. Apply your primer to your lower lash line. Next, apply a vivid purple color there. (GDE Tattooed)

9. Line your eyes and add mascara as usual and Viola!

Have fun with your makeup!

Green Dream.

To do this look I:

1: Primed the lid.

2. Added a green cream base (Inglot green cream eyeliner)

3. I mixed a matte shadow and a bright green shadow to create a pastel shadow (white:MAC's Guesso. Green:Stila Palm)
I patted the color on my lid and all the way up to my crease in an upside down U shape. Blend!

4. Take a matte or shimmery forest green eyeshadow and blend on the outer V and into the crease, but very lightly, making sure you don't hide the pastel green with too much forest green.  (Maybelline forest green  eyeshadow from the new 5 color palette)

5.Time to highlight. Usually to highlight I like to use a flesh toned shadow, but today I went all out and used a frosty white. (Angel Wings by Glamour Doll Eyes) Blend down, making sure you erase any obvious line between the forest green and the white.

6. Blend some more ^ - ^
Remember that blending really is key to making any look appear more polished and awesome.

You're done with the eyeshadows! Six easy steps and you'll look like a million bucks.
Usually I would apply mascara or lashes, but since I'm going to remove this, I'll just omit this step.

 Have a nice day :)

Why Too Faced Shadow Insurance is a great primer.

Like many girls, my first primer was Urban Decay Primer Potion. Don't get me wrong, its a very good quality primer, but I always felt like there was something missing.
The packaging is cute, but you can never get full use of your primer since it has so many curves and places that even the new wand cannot access.

I tried a whole lot of primers, like the E.L.F eyelid primer, the Sephora brand primer, MAC Prep+Prime, but they all failed me.

Finally I decided to give TFSI a try, and I am in love with it.

First of all, its in a squeeze tube, which to me is more sanitary, and way nicer to work with. You get every usable drop of product from here!

The formula is wonderful, its smooth and delicious texture helps with my oily eyelids.
The staying power is from 10 to 15 hours on me, 10 hours when I tend to sweat a lot.

Ok, that is all I have to say! Bye :)

The NYX fail sale, Shiro Cosmetics site is up, and other stuff.

                                                                    Aw Why Nyx!?
Gosh, I was really looking forward to buying some stuff when I saw Phyrra post about the sale on her blog.

The page never loaded :(
Now it loads but there is no sale going on anymore, so I missed out boooo!
Lets all just go to BeautyJoint.com and buy Nyx there for a very good price. I am just about to place an order to see how it goes.
Before I used to buy from Shopcraze but I guess its down... Its been down for ages though, so time to move on!
                                                                       Shiro Time!
Ooh I am so excited that Shiro Cosmetics has their site up now and that I can order samples yaaaay. I never ordered from Etsy because it was kinda clumsy to order samples and now I can :)
Oh and how weird was the whole Bitch Slap! cosmetics issue with Shiro?! They were using Shiro's pics as their own for their pigments... Gosh, how weird. I checked before but it never dawned on me that they were Shiro's pics. I went back now and the pictures suck lol. I can see why they wanted Shiro's pics, they're so beautiful and well lit!

                                                              We're All Awesome.
Just remember that my cupcakes. You're all amazing people and you deserve to be happy. You're all special.

Bye bye cupcakes!

Evil Shades. Quick thoughts and experience!

I had been curious about Evil Shades and finally was able to place an order for a couple of samples. Seriously, I only ordered 2 samples lol.

The samples I ordered were:

Heartless Queen- A intense matte red with silvery glitters.

Venom- Super silky shimmery black.

as a freebie I got was Coffin, and its a beautiful coppery bronze.

So as far as shipping costs, they're very reasonable. I paid about 1.53 or so for shipping. I placed my order on the 16th of March and recieved a shipping notice March 29th, and got my shadows April 3rd.
So shipping is not the quickest out there, but she clearly states that on the site in big letters, so I wasn't bugged in the least.

They come in the cutest little clamshell pods! Many people have issues opening them, but I just open them slowly and I lose no product when I open :) You get quite the bit of product as well. Maybe its not too too much in the sample, but since its in a container rather than a baggie, you get full use of your shadow sample.

Cute!

I will place a larger order next time and let you know how that goes!

Till next time my cupcakes.

Archetype Cosmetics... My fabulous fail.

I'm mad...

No, I'm furious.

While reading one of my all time favorite blogs, I came across a post for Archetype cosmetics. I'm always on the lookout for new mineral makeup lines, and after seeing the swatches on said blog, I rushed to the Archetype site and was ASTOUNDED when I saw each sample was a mere 25 cents. I quickly placed 40 samples in my shopping cart, giddy as a school girl and placed my order...

Now here is where the nightmare begins.

Directly afterwards, I searched my inbox for a purchase receipt. There was no receipt anywhere.
I figured it was just a small fluke and assumed I would be treated the way I am usually treated with other MM companies that spoil me rotten.

I placed my order in NOVEMBER of 2010, two days after Thanksgiving and thought nothing of it when December rolled in and still I had recieved no kind of shipping info.
Hmm.
Christmas was approaching and I was getting really impatient, I ordered many colors specifically because I wanted to try them for a holiday look I had been planning. I sent a quick e-mail to the address listed on the site.

"Hi there, how are you today? Busy I assume.
I say that because I placed an order about 3 weeks ago and well..
I was wondering if it had shipped out already and a notice wasn't sent?
My name is Bla bla bla and the date I placed the order was November 29th
I greatly appreciate you taking the time to read this message, have a great day :)"

And I sent off the message certain I would get a reply.
A day went by. And then another. And another. And another until new years eve passed and we were suddenly in 2011. And I was still without my eyeshadows grrrr.

I sent another e-mail.

"I have been waiting for nearly 6 weeks now and I still have not recieved any info on my order. Please contact me as soon as possible. I understand you must be very busy but this is getting ridiculous."

Another week went by and NO ANSWER.
Ugh.

Understand that at that time I didn't know what a paypal dispute was, so I was feeling awful that I had been scammed by this company. By the time I found out I could dispute the money I paid, I had gone past the 45 day limit. No answer to my e-mails, nothing at all.
By February I had started researching the company and saw that many people had to wait 2, 3 even 4 months to recieve their orders from Archetype! Defeated, I figured I would just have to wait.
And wait.
And wait some more.
Until finally today, March 25th 2011... Yeah 5 months later, I decided to send one last angry massage to Archetype and decided it was time to post about this.

" Thank you so much for taking my money. I really appreciate getting scammed by you. Keep it, I don't want it any more. You will never recieve a cent from me again."

Ok, so it was only like 13 dollars or so, but STILL!
(Caps warning)
HOW ARE THESE PEOPLE STILL IN BUSINESS?! AHHHH!
*Violently shakes laptop around*
Archetype gets an F- in my book.

For great Customer Service in the online makeup circles, I recommend...

High Voltage Cosmetics- The owner Jasmine is always so quick to answer any questions and is always really helpful.

Fyrinnae- Quick helpful replies, very polite.

Detrivore Cosmetics- Besides shipping super fast, whenever I have a question I always get quick replies.

And thats all for today, have a great night and always reaserch before purchasing, please :)

I was feeling colorful today

Here is a little look I created when I was bored and sad because of my break up.

I decided to be colorful and cheerful.
The exact opposite of how I am feeling, but alas life must go on. Thank goodness for color.

On the lid I used Sassy Minerals in Disturbing The Peace.
I blended the blue out with Fyrinnae's Karasu.
I used a touch of Urban Trash by GDE as an accent on the outer corner.
I used a White Chapel by Detrivore as a highlight.

No mascara because I am going nowhere.
No eyeliner because I couldn't find it.
Super dark eyebrows because I felt like being dramatic!

:)

5 makeup 'IF's' that would be awesome.

1. If Fyrinnae made an eye primer. This would make me cry tears of joy. Fyrinnae products are teh awesome.

2. If MAC pigments were less expensive.

3. If Sugarpill cosmetics made cream shadows.

4. If TKB hadn't have discontinued their POP micas....

5. If indie companies offered pressed eyeshadows.

Ah, a girl can dream can't she?

I'm sure Fyrinnae will someday come out with an eye primer that will blow all the rest out of the water. All of their other products are amazing. I know they can do it.

MAC i'm sure wont be lowering their prices any time soon. If ever. Their pigments are all I care for since the pressed shadows I have tried are quite frankly very chalky and not outstanding in any way. Some Revlon shadows I own are way better.

Sugarpill is on the rise and we all know it. I am eagely awaiting new products. I can only hope creams will follow.

POPs are gone everyone. Nobody knows why exactly. This could be a terrible blow to many indie companies. IDK why the manufacturer discontinued it. They're dumb! That was probably the best selling item :(

I know at one point Glamour Doll Eyes was advertising pressed eyeshadows, but after the initial press I never heard of them again. Instead they came out with an 80's collection... Hmmm. Reformulation? Perhaps we'll see them pop up soon. I'd absolutely love to try them out.

K see ya guys!

My look of the day.

Here is a look I did with only 3 eyeshadows. Thats right, only 3!

Its a neutral look for me lol.

I used:
MAC's Old Gold pigment on the lid.
Glamour Doll Eyes in Chocoholic on the crease
Sassy Minerals in Dedicated on the brow.

Simple!
Oh, and soon I will be doing a review... or more of a RAVE on Sassy's Minerals especially Dedicated. Coming soon!

Yay more shots!

I finally got an ok camera and will have loads of fun posting pics now :)

Hey MAC...

Your pigmets are over-priced.
How could it be that you slashed away half the product and kept the price the same?
Thats absolutely ridiculous.

Today I went with an open mind to a MAC counter at Dillards and decided I wanted to purchase a pigment. I said, 'Hey, even the new tiny size, this'll last me forever' I said.
So I get there and actually hold the measly little jar and suddenly 19.50 dollars for that just seems laughable.

NO THANKS.

A little look I did today.

Today I went to a cute ballet, and decided I would dress up my eyes.
The awesome boy I went with was wearing a neat blue shirt with a yellow collar, and decided I would match to that with my makeup.

Example 1:

I did a pretty severe look lol. I like the wings I did at the corners of my eye.
Grrrr I wish my camera was of better quality...

Example 2:

That is what they look like from the front. I like the golden yellow and the blue. I didn't want to blend the colors too too much since I didn't want to create a green affect.

Ooooh I like this shot.

Products used:

-Urban Decay Primer Potion as... well, the primer lol.
-Wet 'n' Wild Idol Eyes cream shadow pencil in Pixie
-On the inner corners of my eyes: Lime Crime Magic Dust in Circus Girl
-On lid: High Voltage Cosmetics in Glam Rock
-On outer eye (the wing) Taylor Made Minerals in Pop.
-Brow Highlight: Glamour Doll Eyes in Angel Wings

Yay! Ok have a great day!

Hey Everyday Minerals, where'd your sample shadows go?!

We all know about Everyday Minerals, their wide range of foundation shades ( I myself use Olive Medium semi-matte during summer, Light Olive in the original glo during the winter )

Something I absolutely loved about EM is their eyeshadows. They have a creamy feel to them even though they are loose powders, and the colors are beautiful original colors.
See, EM was the first mineral makeup company I ever ordered from. Of course being the bargain hunter that I am, placed a small order for 2 samples. Cypress and Twilight Kiss (discontinued but gorgeous color). I was really pleased, and ordered more and more samples and decided to get a full size of 4 shadows.

My curiosity got the better of me and I began to explore other companies, next using BFTE cosmetics. I ordered samples, and since I was a MM beginner I was expecting to get what I had gotten from Everyday Minerals, a full 5 gram jar or product as it used to be with the samples, but... I just got a timy smidgen of eyeshadow! I was shocked when I compared my BFTE full size shadow to a SAMPLE EM shadow and realized I payed 6.50 for a 5 gram jar at BFTE when I payed 2.50 at EM for the same size! A full size EM shadow is  a 10 gram jar for around 6-7.50 a shadow. Hmmm...

SO  I happily remained with EM, ordering my samples, and buying the big one after. It was aweeeesome.
Until...

One day I wanted to try out their 'Butterfly Kisses' shadow, and happily looked for it....
What's this?
Travel Size?
Roller Ball?
N.. no no, Samples, please.

*hits refresh twice, starts to panic*

WHERE ARE THE SAMPLES?!?!
WHAT THE HECK IS A TRAVEL SIZE?!

*Passes out*

Ok maybe I exeggerated a bit, but not by a lot.

I loved the samples, and I want them back :( There are so many EM shadows I want to try but I want a sample before I commit :(
I emailed the company like 4 times asking why they discontinued samples, but I just get the same message.
The samples are gone :(

I suppose there is a good reason, perhaps ecomonical, I don't know. All I know is that I miss them.
The EM value is still the best in the internet mineral makeup game I believe. A 10 gram jar for around 6.50? Awesome.

Maybe one day they'll make their comeback, but until then, I'll just have to grow fond of the little rollerball.
